MET Reflection
When I went to the Met (again), a piece of work that I liked was a painting called "Still Life with a Clock". This piece was made by Amy Weiskopf, known for her still painting that look photorealistic. This piece was finished in 1986 and was made with oil on canvas. The arrangements Weiskopf makes, or the things she paints, can take days to arrange and finalize. Once an arrangement is made, she paints emphasizing color as a key part of her work. She uses color to both make space and form and simultaneously using it to contradict space and form and highlight abstract shapes. Negative space in this work also helps creates form and emphasizes abstract shapes. The lighting this painting was under was fairly lit so that the audience can notice how different tones of color and space is cleverly used to create a photorealistic still scenery.
